  • from She who shall remain nameless -- TOP 1000 REVIEWER : Review for Erica Ridley story ( 5.0 out of 5 stars )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from C. A. -- Weak collection : The strangely dull cover should have warned me. Not the most compelling group of stories, though James was the best of the lot and more of a traditional premise, not unfocused and improbable (Caldwell) or unsympathetic (MacGregor). The motive for leaving her husband in MacGregor’s was hard to swallow, making her unlikable, along with her fluttering chest, stomach tightening and other tired and groan-worthy substitutions for honest emotion—not the best writing. Ridley’s was better written but not what I want to read about, and I tried. Her Automaton Alternate completely lost me and kept pulling me out of the story. I wanted to be swept away with short good reads in this collection and was not. I know these collections can be difficult because they lend themselves to favorites and not so much favorites, but the heroes depicted were really disappointing—a stable boy, a poet/scandalmonger, really?—and they are half of the reason I read romance. At least give me a decent mister, a la Kleypas, and one whose mind isn’t focused on the heroine’s dress fabrics or the scenery for his poems. Rather silly choices made by most of these authors. Cannot recommend it. Go reread an old Mary Balogh instead. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from SIMATSU -- Wonderful Collaboration : The Duke’s revelry see four couples get a happy Christmas wish. Four wonderful authors collaborate to bring mistletoe and magic to the holidays. The Duke plays ringmaster from his sickbed and sees his family members and guests dancing to his tune and doing his bidding. Vows are renewed, weddings occur, and marriage proposals are made in the biggest party of the year. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from LeCoop13 -- Mistletoe is a Merry Read! : Mistletoe Christmas: An Anthology is a wonderful book with four tales by four fantastic authors. Each of the stories is filled with holiday cheer as well as a little merry mayhem you are sure to enjoy! A must read! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Linda Brugger -- Don't Ask About the Favorite : Each one of these stories is a unique gem. They all tell of the journey toward finding that there is someone who you want to cherish for a lifetime but the each do it with a different perspective. You will love the cow who is fond of the Lord. You will celebrate as hero's and heroines come to their senses. And we will continue to wonder about the matchmaking Duke. • 3.0 out of 5 stars from BillFromBrooklyn -- One out of four : There are 4 stories, and really I only enjoyed the 1st one. The other 3 were mediocre and Predictable. I gave the rest of the book a chance because I enjoyed the 1st story so much. But the other 3 were really not well written and the characters never had any real chemistry. In the 1st story, they had almost immediate chemistry ( Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from M. Fritz -- Delightful Fun : This is one holiday romance anthology that will put the merry in your Christmas season. Ms. James and Ms. MacGregor shine brightly in this unforgettable book. The stories built upon each other and it was utterly captivating! I didn't want to set this aside as I devoured each page. From rogues to shy violets and poets and ladies set to be shelfed, this is pure entertainment. Watch love find its sweet way in these four stories that will touch your heart and leave a smile upon your face. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2021 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Lovey -- It doesn't seem to have much to do with the Holiday Season : Hi, as a rule I like these collections of stories that happen during the Holiday Season, however, I couldn't get very far into the second story before I realized there was no cheer or anything to make me feel good about continuing. The stories seem to be drawn out to fill the requisite number of words or pages. The characters are not worth wanting to know and care about. This was a poor way to start off my Holiday reading. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from lcdolphin -- Wonderful : Wonderful stories all taking place at the Duke of Greystoke’s Christmas Revelry. This is definitely one of the best anthologies for weaving all the stories together. A Mistletoe Kiss by Eloisa James features the Duke's daughter, Cressida, who has been managing the Revelry for years and Elias, Lord Darcy de Royleston, a friend of the heir to the Greystoke Dukedom. Cressida is more than reluctant to believe Elias is truly interested in her, but once he spends time with her, and really sees her for who she is, is is not taking no for an answer. Wishing Under the Mistletoe by Christi Caldwell features Lady Isabelle Wilkshire, the Duke's granddaughter and Cyrus Hill, former stablemaster's son and now Investment Banker. Isabelle and Cyrus were to marry 10 years ago and are now meeting again at the Revelry. Compromise Under the Mistletoe by Janna MacGregor has Caroline Whitmore, niece of the Duke, and Lord Stephen Whitmore a separated couple come to the Revelry to pretend to be together so she can get her inheritance. Mischief and Mistletoe by Erica Ridley features Louisa Harcourt, a lady being pushed into marriage by her mother and Ewan Reid, a poet. Loved how different each story was, but all entertaining, and a wonderful way to start the holiday season. ( Reviewed in Canada on October 15, 2021 )
